Surfaces/Material where the steam mop should not be used:
    1. Wax polished furniture or floors.
    2. Unsealed or unglazed ceramic floors, unsealed wooden and wax floors and some no wax floors.
    3. In cases of surfaces treated with wax and some no-wax floors, the sheen may be removed by heat or steam action of the unit.

  5. Can we use or add a cleaning solution to the water tank or on the pads?

All Shark® steam mops are designed to provide effective, chemical-free cleaning without the use of cleaners or additives. Therefore using cleaning solutions, perfumes, oils or any other chemicals is not recommended.

Do not use anything other than water in the unit. Distilled water combined with Shark®'s water filtration bottle is recommended to reduce the potential build-up of hard water residue in the unit which may contribute to steam performance issues.

  6. Can I use detergent on the cleaning area instead of the water tank?

We do not recommend using any form of detergent with Shark® steam mops. Our mops are designed to provide effective, chemical free cleaning without the use of cleaners or detergents and using them could damage your mop.

  7. Why should the Steam Pocket® pads be washed prior to use?

It is important to wash the pads in order to remove any loose lint or fibers from the pad that might have occurred in packaging or in transport. Always wash the pads with liquid detergent, as powder can leave a residue behind. Avoid the use of bleach and fabric softeners when washing pads. Line dry or dry on a low dryer setting.

  8. How often should I replace my Steam Pocket® pads?

Frequency of use, the type of cleaning (heavy/light) and how often the pads are washed and dried determine when new pads are required.

When used under normal household condition (mopping a few times a week), we recommend you replace your Steam Pocket® Pads every 2-3 months. This will ensure the best pad performance.

  9. What is the best use for Steam Concentrator Nozzle?

The Steam Concentrator Nozzle will help loosen debris from crevices and tight areas that are tough to clean. For best results, use the SCRUB Steam Setting and spray steam directly onto dirty area. Once the Nozzle is cool, remove and attach the Mop Head to wipe clean the loosen debris. Alternatively, you may use cloth or paper towels to wipe the area.

  10. How and when should I use the Carpet Glider?

The Carpet Glider should be used with the All-Purpose head to groom and freshen your carpet and area rugs by lightly applying steam to the carpet or rug fibers. To use, attach the Mop Head and place on the Carpet Glider attachment. Press the ON/STANDBY button three times to select the SCRUB Steam Setting. When your mop is ready, steam carpets with a back and forth motion.

Product Care

  1. Steam Pocket® Pads:

Wash the pads with liquid detergent, as powder can leave a residue behind on the pad. Avoid the use of bleach and fabric softeners when washing pads. Line dry or dry on a low dryer setting. For best pad performance, we recommend replacing pads every 2-3 months. Order online at www.sharkclean.com or call 1.800.798.7398.

  2. MOP: Decalcifying your steam mop.

Calcification and mineral deposits can build up and impact the performance of your steam mop over time. We recommend using distilled water and/or Shark®'s Water filtration bottle to extend the life of your steam mop. Order the Shark® Water Filtration Bottle online at www.sharkclean.com or call 1.800.798.7398.

  3. MOP: Cleaning the Nozzle

Calcification and mineral deposits can build up and impact the performance of your steam mop over time. Your steam mop includes a nozzle cleaner for maintenance use. Consult the Owner's Guide for full instructions on how to clean the nozzle of your mop. Should you misplace the nozzle cleaner, a small diameter still metal wire, such as a straightened metal paper clip, may be used as a replacement tool.

To clean the nozzle, remove the Mop Head from unit. If recently used, make sure the mop has completely cooled before proceeding. Carefully insert the end of the wire into the nozzle orifice and move the wire back and forth several times to remove deposits. Plug in appliance and test steam output.

Customer Care

  1. Could I use filtered water instead of distilled water?

Distilled water is best. We have learned that distilled water is empty of all minerals and undergoes a multi-step process to be classified as distilled. However, for the boiler life filtered water is indeed better than unfiltered water.

  2. Do I always need to vacuum before I steam mop?

It is not necessary to vacuum your floors before steam cleaning them. However, not vacuuming any floor before mopping with any mop can result in snowplowing invisible dirt, catching non-water soluble particles in the fabric, and possibly result in scratching your floor. By first vacuuming or sweeping and then steam mopping, you are able to achieve a truly clean and sanitized floor that dries quicker than any traditional cleaning method.

  3. How long will one tank of water last before needing to be refilled?

Approximately 15-20 minutes, depending upon which steam rate you select.

  4. How do I store my steam mop?

To store your mop, remove the dirty pad and hang or rest the mop in your selected storage space. You should never leave your steam mop idle in one area while it is still hot.

Delivery and Ordering

  1. I just placed an order with Shark®. When can I expect to receive my order?

Most (in stock) orders shipped within the continental USA are delivered to your doorstep in 7-10 business days. There are certain zip codes that will extend beyond the standard delivery time.

  2. Where are the orders shipped from?

All of our products are shipped from California via UPS ground or USPS as required for certain zip codes.

  3. How will I know when you ship my order?

Customers who provided an email address at the time of order placement will receive both an email order confirmation, as well as shipping confirmation with the corresponding tracking number.

  4. I have billing type questions about my order. What should I do?

Your order and shipment confirmations contain all the charge amounts and payment schedules related to your order. If you are taking advantage of our installment payment program, the payment schedule due dates and amounts are listed directly below the order information box.

At your convenience, please contact Customer Care for additional assistance via email, phone or live chat.

  5. I am taking advantage of the 4 Easy Payments Option. Why is the amount of my first payment higher than the payments that follow?

Each payment divides the value of the products purchased equally across all four payments. The only difference between the first payment and the subsequent payments is that all applicable taxes and shipping charges are applied to the first payment.

My steam mop left a white spot on the floor.
  • Do not leave your steam mop on the floor with a damp or wet cleaning pad attached.
  • Always wash your pads with a liquid detergent. Avoid bleach and fabric softeners when washing pads. If your pads are older than 3 months, you may need to replace your existing pad. Pads can be purchased at www.sharkclean.com or many local retailers.
  • If you are using tap water, we recommend switching to distilled water.
Floors are cloudy, streaky or spotty after steaming.
  • The pad may be dirty. Unplug the steam mop, wait 2-3 minutes for the mop to cool and switch to a fresh pad.
  • If you washed the cleaning pad with a powder detergent it may be damaged. You may need to purchase new pads, which are available at www.sharkclean.com
  • Residue/build up from past cleaners used on the floor surface can result in a cloudy/milky appearance. Normally, using the steam mop a few times removes the residue/cloudy effect left behind by your old cleaner. If this does not work, we suggest rinsing the floor with water, letting it dry, and then steam mopping again with a fresh pad. One or more rinses generally will remove the built up residue. A more stubborn case may require you to rinse the floor with a mix of one part vinegar and two parts water.
  • Perhaps you have rested the mop in the same spot for too long. Unplug the unit, let cool, change the pad and resume cleaning.
  • Do you have hard water? If so, use distilled water in your mop to avoid mineral deposits and calcification issues.
