Troubleshooting

This FAQ page is a great place to find info, tips and help. Just make sure you’ve read your Owner’s Guide before using your unit.

Using the Vacuum

  1. Turn off the power and remove battery.
  2. Check for blockages along the airflow path.
  3. Check accessories and clear blockages if necessary.
  4. Empty the dust cup and clean the filters.

Refer to your Instruction Booklet for more information.

  2. Remove the floor nozzle from the wand and check for blockages.
  3. Inspect the inside of the wand, specifically the flap near the hose, and clear any blockages.
  4. Open the brushroll garage and check that there are no blockages in the air path and no excess hair or fibers around the brushrolls.

What happens if I experience small static shocks while I am vacuuming?
Certain dry temperatures in winter or dry desert areas may cause common static electricity to build up in the vacuum and produce small shocks, similar to what you might experience from door knobs, wool sweaters or blankets. This is harmless. In order to avoid this, we recommend moisturizing your hands and/or removing wool socks or sweaters prior to vacuuming.

What do I do if my vacuum turns off on its own?
It is possible that the vacuum has overheated. It is equipped with a motor protective thermostat. To reset it, turn the power off and remove the battery. Check for clogs or dirty filters. Clear any clogs and wash filters as is necessary (refer to Instruction Booklet). Wait a minimum of 45 minutes for the vacuum to cool. Then reinsert battery and turn the power on.

If the vacuum still does not start, please contact Customer Care at 1-877-581-7375.

Will the lights burn out?
The LED lights in the nozzle should not burn out if the vacuum is functioning as it should.

Battery

My battery pack seems to have low run time. What should I do?
The ION Power Pack is initially charged to about 30%. Fully charge the pack—for at least 3.5 hours, but preferably overnight—then assess battery performance.

Note that battery run time is affected by the amount of work and cleaning performed. Vacuuming on high-pile carpet while using "Max Power" will reduce battery run time quicker than vacuuming bare floors.

If you have more than one battery, we recommend you use and charge each battery equally.

What if my ION Power Pack feels warm or is indicating that it is too warm to charge?
Your ION Power Pack may feel warm during use as air passes through the vacuum. If it feels uncomfortably warm, stop using the vacuum and allow the battery to cool. If the battery continues to feel warm, or you see any LED indicators as outlined in your instruction book, contact Customer Care at 1-877-581-7375.

The charger is designed to monitor many factors of the battery. After use, batteries can get warm, a condition that is not optimal for charging. In such cases, the charger waits for the battery temperature to decrease to the optimal point before it begins charging.

Brushrolls

What should I do if my brushrolls don't turn on?
  1. Make sure the nozzle is flat against the floor and the vacuum is tilted back out of upright lock.
  2. Make sure the power switch is on.
  3. If red light is illuminated on the floor nozzle, check for blockages (refer to Instruction Booklet).
  4. Turn off the power and remove the battery. Then, remove any excess hair that has wrapped around the brushroll. Avoid damaging or cutting the bristles.
  5. Remove any debris from the soft roller and roller housing.
  6. Check that the handheld vacuum and wand connectors are fully engaged and are making an electrical connection with the floor nozzle.
  7. Replace the battery and turn power on.

If the brushrolls are still not turning on, please contact Customer Care at 1-877-581-7375.

First, make sure the vacuum is turned off. Next, turn the vacuum back on and tilt the vacuum back while gently stepping on the floor nozzle. Note that when you lock the vacuum in the upright position, the brushrolls will stop spinning after a few seconds.

If the brushrolls are still not spinning, check for blockages in the brushrolls. Repeat the steps above.
