What should I do if the brushroll light is red and the brushroll will not spin?
  1. Check to ensure the vacuum is set to the correct setting for the floor type you are vacuuming. Setting I should be used on bare floors and small area rugs, while Setting II should be used on carpets. The unit has a safety feature to prevent the brushroll motor from overheating on thick carpet.
  2. Turn on the vacuum, step on the footprint icon on the floor nozzle, and tilt back the vacuum handle to engage the brushroll.
  3. Start the vacuum and run it back and forth over the floor. Does the brushroll indicator light stay green with the brushroll spinning? If not, see "What should I do if there is no suction or low suction?"

What is the brushroll indicator light on the top of the floor nozzle for?
When the brushroll indicator is green, that means the brushroll is spinning normally.

When the light is solid red, that means the brushroll is not spinning, and there may be something obstructing the floor nozzle.

When the light is flashing red, that means the vacuum has overheated, and shut itself off. If you're experiencing one of these problems, please refer to the troubleshooting section in the Owner's Guide.

What do I do if I see hair wrapped around the brushroll?
Zero-M® technology actively removes hair from the bristle brushroll while the vacuum is running. If you see hair wrapped around the brushroll, please perform the following steps.

  1. Go to a place in your home with hard flooring, low-pile carpet, or a small area rug.
  2. Turn the vacuum on. Select Setting ll (Carpet).
  3. Run the vacuum for 30 seconds.
  4. Shut off and unplug the vacuum.
  5. Inspect the floor nozzle for hair on the bristle brushroll. If the hair has been removed, continue cleaning. If hair remains, continue to Step 6.
  6. Repeat steps 2 through 5 up to 3 more times until the hair is cleared.
  7. Slide the two buttons on the floor nozzle away from the brushroll to remove the brushroll garage lid.
  8. Carefully remove any string or debris from the brushroll.
  9. Reattach the brushroll garage lid and press down firmly on all sides until it clicks into place.
  10. Plug in the vacuum and turn it on. All of the hair should be gone from the bristle brushroll.
