General Information

What is Lift-Away® mode?
Lift-Away® mode allows you to detach the canister so you can clean every tough-to-reach area of your home. With Lift-Away®, you can deep-clean your entire house without ever moving a single piece of furniture.

  1. To go into Lift-Away mode, press the Floor Nozzle button on the side of the vacuum canister and lift the canister off the floor nozzle.
  2. To clean above-floor areas, detach the handle from the wand. To clean with more reach, remove the wand from the canister with the handle attached. Cleaning accessories are compatible with both the handle and the wand.
  3. To clean hard-to-reach areas under furniture, insert the wand into the floor nozzle.

Filters

How do I know when the filters need to be cleaned?
Filters may need to be cleaned if the vacuum is not picking up dirt, if airflow is restricted, or if you notice lighter suction or no suction.

How do I clean the pre-motor filters?
  1. Make sure the unit is unplugged.
  2. Remove the dust cup and pull the foam filter out from the motor housing. Then remove the felt filter using the small ribbon pull-tab.
  3. Rinse filters thoroughly in cold water until the water runs clear. Squeeze out excess water and let filters air-dry completely for at least 24 hours before replacing. Do not place filters in the dishwasher or washing machine.
  4. When filters are completely dry, reinstall the felt filter first, then add the foam filter.

How often should I clean the filters?
Clean filters regularly for optimal performance. Normal usage is between 4-6 hours a week.

  • Pre-Motor Foam & Felt Filters: Under normal usage, rinse clean every 3 months.
  • Post-Motor HEPA Filter: Under normal usage, rinse clean every 2 years or as needed.


Rinse filters with cold water only. Let all filters air-dry completely for at least 24 hours before reinstalling. Between washings, tap filters clean as needed to remove excess dust and debris.

How do I clean the post-motor HEPA filter?
  1. Make sure the unit is unplugged.
  2. Remove the filter cover from the front of the vacuum by pulling the latch from under the motor housing.
  3. Remove the HEPA filter cartridge and rinse under cold water, dirty side down, until the water runs clear. Allow the filter to air-dry completely for 24 hours.
  4. Once the HEPA filter is dry, reinstall it. Replace the cover by lining up the top tabs, then pressing the grill down until it clicks into place.

How do I remove the dust cup?
  1. Remove the dust cup by lifting the side latches.
  2. Pull dust cup up and away from the motor housing.


Note: The dust cup should be emptied each time you vacuum and periodically during cleaning, when the dust cup appears full.

How do I empty the dust cup?
  1. Hold the dust cup over the trash and press the bottom door release button. Tap gently to empty contents.
  2. Press the door shut again until it clicks.
  3. If needed, turn the dust cup upside down over the trash and press the top door release button. Tap gently to remove contents or wipe clean with a soft cloth.

Assembly

How do I attach the accessory tool holder and store the onboard tools?
  1. With the handle removed from the wand, align the tab in the accessory holder with the groove in the wand, then slide the holder down over the wand.
  2. Slide the accessory holder over the extension wand.
  3. Press down and turn counterclockwise until it locks into place. Install the handle onto the extension wand.
  4. Place the dusting brush on the top post of the accessory holder, then slide the crevice tool onto the bottom post.

Using the Product

What should I do if my vacuum pushes or lifts up area rugs?
Turn the suction release collar on the handle to MIN to reduce suction. If the vacuum still lifts area rugs, move the power switch to setting I, Bare Floor, to disengage the brushroll.

What is the suction release collar and when should I adjust it?
The suction release collar on the handle allows you to adjust the amount of suction and optimize cleaning. Decrease suction to clean high-pile carpets and area rugs, rugs with fringe, or delicate fabrics such as curtains.

To decrease suction, turn the collar counterclockwise. For maximum suction, turn the collar clockwise.

When should I use the bare floor setting?
Use Setting I, Bare Floor, to vacuum delicate carpets or hard floor surfaces. It is also the setting to use for above-floor cleaning with the hose.

How do I remove the handle with extension wand to clean above floors?
  1. Unwrap the cord from the cord hook, then press the wand release button on the back of the canister.
  2. Gently pull up on the top handle to detach the wand.
  3. Add a cleaning tool to the end of the wand and begin cleaning.

Brushrolls

How do I access the brushroll?
  1. Make sure the unit is unplugged.
  2. Press the Floor Nozzle button to lift the vacuum canister off the nozzle.
  3. Place the nozzle on the floor with the brushroll facing up.
  4. Remove hair and other debris from the brushroll and airway. Use scissors to carefully cut away anything wrapped around the brushroll. Avoid damaging or cutting the bristles.
