How do I insert/remove my battery?
To insert, slide the battery into the slot on the back of the handheld vacuum. To remove, pinch the release tab and slide the battery out of the handheld vacuum.

What do the lights on my battery mean?
The lights on the battery serve multiple purposes. One purpose is to show the remaining charge in your battery while in use. The lights will also blink and illuminate to show the status of the battery while charging. In addition, the lights will illuminate in certain configurations to inform you of any issues with the battery.

How do I charge my battery and how long does it take to charge?
You can charge your battery by using a Shark® charger along with accessories such as the charging dock and wall mount. Please note that only Shark® chargers should be used to charge your vacuum's battery. Consult your instruction book for approved models.

Your battery should take approximately 3.5 hours to reach a full charge.

How long will my battery run and will I ever need to replace it?
Like all lithium-ion products, your battery will naturally decrease in capacity over time from the 100% capacity of a new battery.

These runtimes are based on 100% capacity:
  • Hand vacuum only in ION POWER mode: approximately 11 minutes
  • Hand vacuum only in ION BOOST mode: approx. 23 minutes
  • Floor mode in ION POWER: approx. 12 minutes
  • Floor mode in ION BOOST: approx. 20 minutes
  • Carpet mode in ION POWER: approx. 11 minutes
  • Carpet mode in ION BOOST: approx. 14 minutes

My battery seems to have low runtime. What should I do?
The initial charge on the pack (out of the box) is approximately 30%. Fully charge the pack (3.5 hours minimum/overnight preferred) and assess battery performance.

Note that battery run time is affected by the amount of work you are performing. Vacuuming on high pile carpet while using ION Boost will reduce battery run time quicker than vacuuming bare floors.

If you have more than one battery, it is recommended that you use each equally in use and charging.

What if my battery is warm to the touch or indicates that it's too warm to charge?
Your battery may feel warm in use as air passes through the vacuum. If it feels uncomfortably warm, stop using the vacuum and allow for the battery to cool. If the battery continues to feel warm, or you see any LED indicators as outlined in your instruction book, contact Customer Care.

The charger is designed to monitor many factors of the battery. After use, batteries can get warm, a condition that is not optimal for charging. In such cases, the charger waits for the battery temperature to decrease to the optimal point before it begins charging.
