What happens if I experience small static shocks while I am vacuuming?
Certain dry temperatures in winter or dry desert areas may cause common static electricity to build up in the vacuum, producing small shocks, similar to what you might experience from contact with doorknobs, wool sweaters, or blankets. This is harmless. In order to avoid this, we recommend moisturizing your hands and/or removing wool socks or sweaters prior to vacuuming.

What should I do if the vacuum turns off on its own?
The vacuum cleaner is equipped with a motor protective thermostat. If for some reason your vacuum overheats, the thermostat will automatically turn the unit off. Typically, overheating is caused by a clogged airway. It may take approximately 60 minutes for the unit to cool. Perform the following steps to clear the clog while the vacuum cools.

  1. Turn off the vacuum and unplug it.
  2. Empty the dust cup.
  3. Open the top lid on the dust cup by pressing the top door release button. Clear away any debris from the cone-shaped screen inside the dust cup, then close the lid.
  4. Remove the pre-motor filters from behind the dust cup. Tap filters clean over a trash can to remove any excess dirt and debris.
  5. Reinstall the filters and reattach the dust cup.
  6. Detach the handle from the wand and detach the hose from the back of the vacuum pod.
  7. Hold the handle with the opening facing up. Drop a coin into the inlet. If the coin doesn't fall through the hose, then there is a clog that must be cleared.
  8. Detach the wand, and remove any blockages.
  9. Detach the floor nozzle from the wand and pod.
  10. To access the brushroll, turn the nozzle over. Slide both release buttons on the floor nozzle away from you, toward the back of the nozzle, then lift off the brushroll garage lid.
  11. Clear away any clogs or debris around the brushroll and in the nozzle openings.
  12. Once all clogs have been cleared, insert the 3 tabs on top of the brushroll garage lid into the 3 slots in the nozzle, then push down on both sides of the lid until it clicks securely into place.
  13. Reassemble the entire vacuum.
  14. Once the unit has cooled for 60 minutes, plug it back in and turn it on.

What should I do if my vacuum is hard to push or pull on certain carpets or area rugs?
Check to see which setting you are using.

  • For low-pile carpet types, slide the surface selector to the Carpet/Low Pile setting. This is the default carpet setting and provides high suction power.
  • If the vacuum is difficult to push or pull when using this setting, switch to Thick Carpet/Area Rug. This setting uses less suction, and is ideal for high-pile and thick carpets, area rugs, and specialty carpets.

What should I do if the vacuum doesn't turn on?
Check your power outlet by plugging in another appliance or plugging the vacuum into a different outlet. Check the circuit breaker/fuse and make sure the power button is turned ON.

To reset the motor thermostat:
  • Turn off and unplug the vacuum.
  • Clear any blockages from the nozzle, hoses, and airways.
  • Empty the dust cup and clean the filters.

What should I do if the brushroll stops spinning?
If the brushroll isn't spinning, but you notice that the motor is running, check the following:

Is the brushroll indicator light located on the top of the floor nozzle solid red or flashing red?

If the brushroll indicator light is SOLID red:
  • Turn the unit off and unplug the vacuum.
  • Ensure the vacuum is on the appropriate carpet setting.
  • Clear any jams in the brushroll.
  • Access the brushroll by opening the garage door and clear any debris
  • Plug in the vacuum and turn on the power.

If the brushroll indicator light is FLASHING red, check for clogs in the brushroll and allow the unit to cool for 60 minutes before turning it back on:
  • Turn off and unplug the vacuum.
  • Detach the floor nozzle from the wand and pod.
  • To access the brushroll, open the garage lid on the nozzle by sliding both release buttons away from you toward the back of the nozzle, then lift off the lid.
  • Carefully remove any hair or debris from the brushroll.
  • Clear any clogs inside the nozzle openings.
  • To close the brushroll garage lid, insert the 3 tabs on top of the lid into the 3 slots in the nozzle, then push down on both sides of the lid until it clicks securely into place
  • Reconnect the floor nozzle to the wand and pod.
  • Plug in the vacuum and turn on the power.
