Shark® Rocket® DeluxePro Ultra-Light Vacuum
What happens if I experience small static shocks while I am vacuuming?
Certain dry temperatures in winter or dry desert areas may cause common static electricity to build up in the vacuum, producing small shocks, similar to what you might experience from contact with doorknobs, wool sweaters, or blankets. This is harmless. In order to avoid this, we recommend moisturizing your hands and/or removing wool socks or sweaters prior to vacuuming.

What should I do if my vacuum is hard to push or pull?
For more maneuverability on area rugs, slide the power switch to setting I, Bare Floor, Small Area Rugs.
  • Tilt the handle back while gently stepping on the floor nozzle. The brushrolls will spin slowly in this mode.

For easier movement on high-pile carpets, slide the power switch to setting II, High Pile Carpets.
  • Tilt the handle back while gently stepping on the floor nozzle. The brushrolls will spin quickly in this mode.

What should I do if the vacuum doesn't turn on or turns off on its own?
Check the power outlet by plugging in another appliance or plugging the vacuum into a different outlet.
Make sure the power is on by sliding the selector switch to setting I or II.

The vacuum cleaner is equipped with a motor protective thermostat. If for some reason your vacuum overheats, the thermostat will automatically turn the unit off. Typically, overheating is caused by a clogged airway. It may take approximately 60 minutes for the unit to cool. Perform the following steps to clear the clog while the vacuum cools.

  1. Turn off the vacuum and unplug it.
  2. Squeeze the two Dust Cup Release latches on the sides of the handheld vacuum, then pull the dust cup straight out.
  3. Press the Empty button to open the bottom lid. Clear away any debris from the cone-shaped screen inside the dust cup, then close the lid.
  4. Remove the pre-motor foam and felt filters from the top of the handheld vacuum. Tap filters over a trash can to remove dirt and debris.
  5. Reinstall the filters, placing the felt filter in first, followed by the foam filter. Reattach the filter cover.
  6. Detach the wand and remove any blockages.
  7. Detach the floor nozzle from the wand.
  8. Turn the nozzle upside down and use a coin to turn the locks on the bottom cover counterclockwise to open. Lift the cover to access the brushroll.
  9. Clear away any clogs or debris around the brushroll and in the nozzle openings.
  10. Once all clogs have been cleared, reattach the bottom cover, pressing down firmly along all sides. Turn the locks clockwise to close.
  11. Reassemble the vacuum.
  12. Once the unit has cooled for 60 minutes, plug it back in and turn it on.

What should I do if the brushroll stops spinning?
If the brushroll isn't spinning, but the motor is running, check the following:
  • If the brushroll indicator light on the top of the floor nozzle is SOLID red:
    • Turn off the vacuum and unplug it.
    • Plug the vacuum back in and move the surface selector switch to the appropriate setting.
  • If the brushroll indicator light is FLASHING red, the floor nozzle is overheating. Turn off and unplug the vacuum. Allow it to cool for 60 minutes. While the vacuum cools, perform the following steps:
    • Detach the floor nozzle from the wand.
    • Turn the nozzle upside down and use a coin to turn the locks on the bottom cover counter clockwise to open the bottom cover and access the brushroll.
    • Carefully remove any hair or debris from the brushroll.
    • Clear any clogs inside the nozzle openings.
    • Reattach the bottom cover, pressing down firmly along all sides. Turn the locks clockwise to close.
    • Reconnect the floor nozzle to the wand.
    • Plug in the vacuum and turn on the power.
