What happens if I experience small static shocks while I am vacuuming?
Certain dry temperatures in winter or dry desert areas may cause common static electricity to build up in the vacuum, producing small shocks, similar to what you might experience from contact with doorknobs, wool sweaters, or blankets. This is harmless. In order to avoid this, we recommend moisturizing your hands and/or removing wool socks or sweaters prior to vacuuming.

What should I do if the vacuum doesn't turn on?
Check the power outlet by plugging in another appliance or plugging the vacuum into a different outlet.
Make sure the power button is ON.

The vacuum cleaner is equipped with a motor protective thermostat. If for some reason your vacuum overheats, the thermostat will automatically turn the unit off. Typically, overheating is caused by a clogged airway. It may take approximately 60 minutes for the unit to cool. Until the unit cools down, it will have no power. This is a safety feature. Perform the following steps to clear the clog while the vacuum cools.

  1. Turn off the vacuum and unplug it.
  2. Slide up both Dust Cup Release latches on the back of the handle at the same time and then pull out the dust cup.
  3. Hold the dust cup over the trash and press the bottom button to open the bottom lid, allowing the debris to fall out. Close the bottom lid, then press the top release button and lift the top lid. Clear away any debris from the cone-shaped screen inside the dust cup, then close the top lid.
  4. With the dust cup removed, take out the pre-motor foam and felt filters from the Lift-Away® pod. Tap filters clean over a trash can to remove any excess dirt and debris.
  5. Reinstall the filters, placing the foam filter over the support frame. Reattach the dust cup.
  6. Detach the wand and remove any blockages.
  7. To access the brushroll, turn the nozzle over and use a coin to open the 3 locks on the bottom. Turn the locks counterclockwise to open, then lift off the cover. Note: the brushroll is not removable.
  8. Look for debris or clogs in the air intake and the self-cleaning brushroll. Note that the self-cleaning brushroll is non-removeable.
  9. Replace the brushroll cover and ensure all three locks are closed tightly.
  10. Slide the Eject button to remove the soft brushroll.
  11. Wipe down the roller and check the housing for any debris buildup.
  12. Reinstall the brushroll by first inserting the left side, then the right, pressing it until it clicks into place.
  13. Reassemble the vacuum.
  14. Once the unit has cooled for 60 minutes, plug it back in and turn it on.
